(Norwalk, CA) Ranked No. 1 in the most recent California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association state poll, Mt. San Antonio College (25-3, 13-2) defeated No. 11 Cerritos College (20-8, 11-3) in a South Coast Conference matchup by the score of 3-2 on Thursday, March 31. The win is the Mounties' eight in a row and twelfth in the last 13 and keeps them atop the SCC standings with a game-and-a-half lead over Cerritos.

Trailing 1-0 through three, Mt. SAC's Emily Barba (1-2, R, 3 RBI) hit a three-run homer with two out to put the visitors up, 3-1. The Falcons rallied for a run in the bottom of the fifth, but it proved to be too little.

Top hitters for the Mounties included Asia Chacon (1-3, 2B), Ariana Coronado (1-1, R, SB), Alyssa Castaneda (1-3, R), and Arely Coronado (1-3).

Starter Grace Pieson (16-3) picked up the win for Mt. SAC, throwing four innings, allowing two runs (one earned), while striking out five. Serena Navarrete (3 IP, 3 K) earned her first save of the season.

The Mounties will take a break from SCC play for a non-conference home game against Fullerton College (14-12-1) on Saturday, April 2, at 5 p.m.
