The MiraCosta women's basketball team cruised to a 65-43 victory to clinch their 16 win of the season.  With the win the Spartans are one game closer to securing a place in the CCCAA state playoffs, an honor that the program hasn't enjoyed since the 1980's.

MiraCosta was led in scoring by Chynna Cochran (15), Julia Iman (13) and Victoria Wilson (10).  The Spartans got control of the game in the second quarter where they outscored the Roadrunners 24-6, extending the halftime lead to 39-17.

In the second half Desert played the host Spartans even but the damage was already done.  MiraCosta's defensive energy created 22 steals, leading to easy baskets and overall momentum for the Spartans.

MiraCosta will next be in action on Tuesday against Palomar College at 5PM.
