Baseball Comes Back to Beat Sequoias, 6-4

Cuesta Baseball took control of the series against College of the Sequoias in Game 2 of their three-game set with a 6-4 victory.  The Cougars won the opener on Thursday, 7-0, but the Giants kept today's outcome in question until the final out.  Cuesta scored first when their Leadoff Batter Ethan Royal was beaned and came around to score on Victor Heredia's RBI-single, however a three-run Home Run by Giants' Catcher Matthew Gonzales gave Sequoias their first lead of the series.  The Cougars posted in a run in the third inning and took back the lead in the fourth.  Third Baseman Justice Gibbons the started that rally by being hit by a pitch and then stealing second.   He was Doubled home by Centerfielder Kayne Ross, who later scored on Royal's single to give Cuesta the lead for good.  On offense, Heredia and Royal both enjoyed multi-hit games to lead the Cougars, while Relievers Dane Treur and Elias Bullard shared the win and the save, respectively.  Treur did not allow an earned run in his nearly five innings of work, while Bullard retired four of the five batsmen he faced to close the game.  The win moves the Cougars back over .500 at 5-4 on the season.

Cuesta and Sequoias complete their three-game series on Saturday (Noon) at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.
