Falcons win slugfest over West Valley, 15-7

The Folsom Lake baseball team, seeded #2 in northern california, opened their postseason on Friday afternoon with a 15-7 win over #15 seed West Valley at FLC.  The Falcons only needed three pitches to take a 3-0 lead when Jared Breedwell led off with a first-pitch single, Jeff Bauser had a first-pitch bunt single, and JT Waldon launched a first-pitch three-run homer to left-center field. Three batters later Cole Tremain lofted a high fly to left that cleared the fence for a two-run homer and the Falcons had a 5-0 first inning lead.

It was a dominant performance by the Falcons except for one bad inning - the third - when the Vikings scored six runs to tie the score.  But after that, starter Carter Delaney settled down and Will Jacobson pitched four scoreless innings in relief to stymie the Vikings.  The Falcon bats were led by Waldon's two 3-run homers (and 7 RBI) and Tremain's two homers.  Tremain finished 4-for-5 with 4 RBI.

Game two is set for Saturday at 11:00 am, followed by game three if necessary.
