Citrus College found itself in a 12-run hole early and couldn't climb out of it, falling 15-7 to Santa Ana Friday.

The Owls drop to 4-3, while the Dons improve to 6-0-1.

Citrus finished with seven hits, with Chad Green and Conner McKinney each posting two.

Down 12-0 heading into the fourth, the Owls plated two runs in the fourth as both Green and McKinney came home to get the visitors on the board.

The Dons answered right back with two runs, but Citrus struck in the top of the fifth. Devon Diaz came home on a sacrifice from Santiago Castro and Green added another run off an RBI single from McKinney.

Green scored on a passed ball in the seventh to cut the margin to 10 runs as the Owls had a big hole to get out of in the final two innings. Citrus tried to put a rally together in the ninth and scored two runs before the Dons could get an out, but Santa Ana got the next two outs to end the rally early and seal the 15-7 victory.

Citrus heads to Oxnard College on Saturday for a game at 1 p.m.
