Men’s Volleyball Drops Home Opener to Orange Coast

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) non-conference defeat to visiting Orange Coast on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (0-3) dropped their third straight match to start the season and second to the Pirates in less than a week.

Travis Hannemann led the Warriors with 10 kills but the offense struggled as a whole, attacking at just a .069 percentage. Jake Suson had seven kills but also had six errors while Mark Antonov had six kills with six errors. Jake Stimpfig dished out 28 assists in the loss.

For the Pirates (3-1), Sebastian Lara led the way with eight kills and William Rice dished out 24 assists as the team attacked at a .221 clip. They also recorded eight aces on the night and nine team blocks with Niall Finnegan leading the way with five (one solo).

The Warriors will look to regroup on Wednesday night with a road contest at Fullerton. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
