Softball: Bulldogs Get Revenge with Win at Santa Barbara

SANTA BARARA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team avenged a previous league loss after topping Santa Barbara City College, 4-3, in a road test on Thursday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

Both teams were scoreless through the first three innings of play before Antoinette Terrones put the Bulldogs (9-4, 3-2 WSC) on the board with a single in the fourth that plated two. Lisette Coria added to the lead with an RBI single in the fifth, but the Vaqueros (12-6, 2-3 WSC) cut the deficit with a two-run rally in the bottom of the frame. Abigail Salazar gave the visiting crew a necessary two-run cushion in the final inning with a double that plated one. Santa Barbara nearly evened the odds in the bottom of the seventh after one runner scored on a two-out sacrifice fly to center field, but solid defense by Danica Black ended the game with one runner left on base.

Salazar and Delayna Quezada led the Bulldogs at the plate, both going of 2-for-3 on the day, while Lisette Coria registered a pair of stolen bases. Briana Munoz picked up her fourth win of the season on the rubber after a complete game performance. The Guadalupe native struck out one batter while scattering six hits and allowing three earned runs.

Hancock is currently scheduled to return to action on March 14th at home against LA Pierce College, pending field conditions following the upcoming inclement weather in the weekend forecast.
