Offense Carries Softball to Dominant Home Opening Win over L.A. Mission

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College pounded out 12 hits Tuesday afternoon in a 10-0 run-rule victory over visiting L.A. Mission at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (3-0) scored multiple runs in three of the four innings they batted and the pitching allowed the Eagles (0-1) just one hit on the day to secure the victory.

Mina Nakawake and Vanessa Perez each tallied two hits and were a part of an offense that had 10 players record a hit on the day. McKenna Zayas and Sarah Reels each had two RBIs and Jamie Garvey picked up the victory in the circle as she allowed just one hit in three innings pitched. She walked one and struck out four.

The Warriors also added four extra-base hits on the day including three triples and an inside-the-park home run by Carrera Dillard.

The game was put out of reach early as the Warriors scored four times in the first inning, capped off by a two-run triple from Reels.

After two more runs in the second, the Warriors put the game away in the third with three more runs on Dillard's home run, an RBI triple from Nakawake and an RBI single from Vanessa Perez.

The Warriors will return to action on Thursday as they open South Coast Conference play against Long Beach City at the ECC Softball Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
