SUSANVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team split a doubleheader to end the season on the road against Lassen, losing the first one 8-4 before winning 10-5 in the last game of the season.

Lassen 8, Shasta 4
The Knights plated three runs in the third and brought it within one run in the fifth when Shelbe Cappello scored on an error. But the Cougars pulled away for the home win. Autumn Giannini was 2 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run, Cappello was 1 for 3 with two runs, Madeline Nightingale drove in a run and Kaylie McDaniel scored once. McDaniel gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits with six walks and four strikeouts in six innings to take the loss.

Shasta 10, Lassen 5
Shasta scored a pair of runs in five of the seven innings, scoring the final six runs – highlighted by run-scoring triples by Autumn Campbell and Nightingale – to pull away for the season-ending win. Campbell was 3 for 3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and a run, Giannini was 2 for 3 with four runs, Whitney Carnes was 1 for 4 with two RBIs, Cappello scored twice, Caitlin France had a hit and an RBI, Nightingale was 1 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run and Savannah Cruz was 1 for 4 with a run. McDaniel earned the win, giving up five runs on 13 hits with two strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.

Shasta finished the year 13-21 overall and fifth in GVC play with a 6-14 record.

Campbell led the team in hits (35), runs (26), triples (2), stolen bases (16) and with a .417 batting average, which was the 19th best single season batting average in program history. Other team leaders included Carnes and Cruz tying for the most doubles (8), Cappello in RBIs (17) and Cruz in walks (16).

In pitching, Carnes had 102 strikeouts and 16 complete games.

As a team, Shasta was 23rd in walks with 97.
