Baseballs: Andavolgyi and Gallina Launch Bombs in Slugfest

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Game one of the four game series between rivals Golden West and Orange Coast College turned into an all out slugfest this afternoon as Golden West falls 13-12.

In was can only be described as an all out slugfest from both teams, with a total of five homeruns hit, 25 runs scored, and 26 hits recored combined. Unfortunatley it didn't go in favor of Golden West as they had a chance in the bottom of the eighth inning to either tie the ball game or take the lead with bases loaded and one out. OCC forced an inning ending 1,2,3 double play to end the threat after four Golden West runs had already crossed the plate. Was the runner out at first base on the doubleplay, the replay would suggest no, but that's how the play was called on the field. Golden West would get the tying run to second base after leadoff hitter Christian Lamar was hit by a pitch and a Gunnar Magrann perfectly executed sacrifice bunt. The offense just couldn't come through at the very end, stranding the runner at second to end the game.

Right fielder Julian Boyd continued to stay hot at the plate going 2 for 3 with two RBI's and a run scored. It was Logan Gallina though that scared the OCC pitching staff as his only hit of the game was a two-run homer in the first inning to be walked in his next three at bats.

Starting pitcher Caleb Turner turned in arguably his best start of the season going five plus innings while giving up four hits and three runs while striking out two.

NEXT: Golden West will host Orange Coast on Thursday, April 29th for a 2pm start at Hoover Field. The will be live streamed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rm3dsr4qjg
