Walking to Victory

Folsom, CA – After scoring 30 runs in the first game of the series, the Vikings (11-7, 3-2) and Falcons (16-2, 4-1) combined for 5 runs in game two. Once again, it was the Falcons who won the game, this time by a score of 3-2.

The Vikings scored on run in the 1st inning and another in the 4th inning. The Falcons responded with a 1st inning run that came off Nate Vargas' RBI single to tie the game, 1-1, and in 6th inning off a double play that drove in, Nate Vargas. Again, the score was tied (2-2) and remained that way heading into the bottom of the 9th inning when Logan Sutter drew a bases-loaded-walk to bring in Jacob Elias and end the game.

Starting on the mound for the Falcons, was lefthanded freshman, Dylan Warren. Warren allowed 4 hits, and two earned runs in 6 innings while striking out 5 batters. It was Nate Brouse, however, that earned the win for the Falcons after retiring the side in the top of the 9th inning by recording a striking with a batter in scoring position to keep the game tied at two.

The Falcons look to sweep the series on Saturday, March 11th in Pleasant Hill in a game that was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 9th but had to be rescheduled due to rain.
