Vaqueros Beaten in Three Sets at Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. – The SBCC women's volleyball team was swept for the first time all season on Friday, as Ventura took three sets by no more than six points, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.

The Vaqueros (18-4, 5-2) nearly pulled out the opening set before falling just short. Outside hitter Lola Bunn led the team in kills for the first time this season, tallying eight to go along with three blocks and two digs.

Caroline McCarty and Karoline Ruiz were right behind her with six kills apiece. Ruiz also added one block. Setter Emma Crabbe had yet another double-double with 32 assists and a team-high 13 digs.

Ventura outhit the Vaqueros .240 to .139, led by Katey Mulville's 16 kills (.560). The loss ended a four-match SBCC win streak.

Santa Barbara will return to action next Friday at Moorpark in the second of three straight away from home.
