MiraCosta's Season Ends in Playoffs

The MiraCosta women's volleyball team traveled to Moorpark College for the CCCAA state playoffs but lost in the fifth game to end their season.

The Spartans played well to open the match winning two out of first three games.  In the fourth game MiraCosta had chances to to seal the victory but Moorpark clawed back and stole the game away with a 27-25 score.  In the fifth game the Spartans kept it close but couldn't finish the job, losing 15-11.

The loss ends the season for the team with an overall record of 17-6, three of the six losses coming at the hands of teams that will be playing in the State Championship Dec 3-5.  All six losses were to teams that made the CCCAA playoffs. 

Against Moorpark sophomore Madison Nichols was on fire, finishing with 23 kills and 15 digs. Savannah So'oto added 14 kills and 20 digs. The Spartans got additional offensive support from Makayla Hicks (8), Aria Barker (7), and Cameron Martinez (7).  The setting duo of Giulia Cefalu and Summer Hoslett sustained consistent enthusiasm and focus, combining for 46 assists and 17 digs. Sophomore libero Paola Peralta led the defensive effort with 22 digs. 

The Spartans will focus their energy on the beach volleyball season starting in January games extending through May 14th.
