Compton, CA – The 2022 Compton College Tartars football season got off to a rough start. On Saturday, the Tartars kicked off the first of a 10-game schedule with a 54-0 loss to the visiting East LA College Huskies.

The Tartars had great highlights of moving the ball upfield in the first quarter when Malachi Betters caught a 39 yard strike from Quarterback James Rafkin the Tarters would get to their oppents redzone but was not able to get a score as they would turnover on downs. The Huskies responded by storming out to a 26-0 lead at halftimeout score.

The Tartars defense was lead by Aaron Morgan who had two sacks and a total of four tackles. Another stand out play for the defense was the incredible interception by freshman Robert Jones. 

Zayvon Knox had a team-high five tackles on defense for the Tartars.

Compton College now turns its attention for Week 2 opponent, LA Southwest College. The Tartars travel to LA Southwest College next Saturday (Sep. 10) for a 6 p.m. game.
