On a night of firsts in a season like no other, the GCC Women's Volleyball Team won its first match of the season over visiting San Bernardino Valley College in a sudo home game at nearby Ribet Academy in Los Angeles. The 3-1 victory saw the Lady Vaqueros drop the first game in a 26-28, 25-21, 25-12, 27-25 victory to improve their record to 1-4 this season.

 

"We needed this win for sure,'' said GCC Head Coach Yvette Ybarra. "We were scrappy and fought hard.''

 

With the Verdugo Gym Facility under construction, the game was the closest that Glendale has come to playing at home even though it was few miles away from campus. The Lady Vaqs seemed to relish the geographical opportunity as they fought back from a tough first game loss to gut out their first victory of the season.

 

Glendale plays at Santa Barbara City College Friday at 6 pm and hosts Cuesta College Wednesday Sept. 22 at 6 pm at its home away from site at Ribet Academy.
