Football: Career Day for Jimenez Leads Rustlers to League win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Wide receiver Nate Jimenez had a career day in the Rustlers National Southern League opener at home beating Southwestern 41-3. 

Jimenez got the Rustlers on the scoreboard with the first of his two touchdowns on a four yard catch from quarterback Ui Ale to put the Rustlers up 6-0. Then it was running back Kross Antonnacchi on a four yard rush to put Golden West up 13-0 later in the first quarter. 

It remained fairly quiet in the second quarter as each team traded interceptions but it was the Rustlers Justin Hintze's interception late in the second quarter that led to another score as time ran expired in the first half. Golden West missed a 31-yard field goal attempt as time expired but Southwestern was call for running into the kicker which moved the ball five yards and comes with a first down. The Rustler offense threw a fade route to wide receiver Nick Kennewell for a nine yard touchdown for the 20-0 halftime lead. 

The Jaguars would score their only points of the game on their second half opening drive when the successfully kicked a 38 yard field goal to make it 20-3. 

It was the Rustlers the rest of the way as Ale and Jared Johnson would each have a three yard rushing touchdown and then Jimenez scored his second touchdown of the game on a coverage breakdown from the Jaguars that led to a 77 yard score. 

Jimenez on the afternoon racked up 232 yards on ten catches with two scores. 

The Rustler defense was just as dominate as they surrendered 204 total yards of offense, 118 passing and 86 rushing. Hintze, Khilyn Neal, and Akili Hubbard each recorded an interception while Austin Grbic and Cristian Carmona had one sack apiece. 

Golden West will travel to Saddleback College on Saturday, October 22 for a 6pm kickoff.
