FOOTBALL: THEY'RE BACK!

FOOTBALL: THEY'RE BACK!

On Wednesday, it was the final Hornet football practice for the spring as Head Coach Garrett Campbell and the coaching staff organized an intrasquad scrimmage. There was a lot of excitement, emotion, and action on the field with so many talented footballers doing their best to make a name for themselves after a year-long COVID wait.

"I told the players after the scrimmage how proud I was of their effort, not just today but over the course of the past eight weeks. It's hard enough to play college football, add in everything we've all been through in the past year and it's incredible that we were out here practicing at all. But what I saw out here today was some good football that will help propel us into our summer portion of our program", said Hornet Head Coach Garrett Campbell.

Ending the eight-week spring workouts on such a high-note has the team buzzing with anticipation on what the fall season will bring. Putting the pads on for the final practice brought back a sense of excitment giving the program a needed booster shot after such a harsh year.

Coach Campbell added, "You just can't replace live team reps. You can practice in shorts and t-shirts all you want, but you don't really know your team until you put the pads on. As a staff, I think we have a handle on where we are at with both physicality and conditioning. I'm excited to add the new players into the mix this Summer on roll into August and put the pads back on."

The team will reconvene this summer when they put in the hard work needed to make another run at the state title this fall.
