(Ventura, CA) The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball team (1-3) earned its first win of the season in the second of two contests at Ventura Marina on Friday, April 30.

In the first match, Ventura College (2-0) handed the Mounties a 3-2 defeat. The No. 2 pair of Alyssa Aleman/Natalie Caravantes (22-20, 19-21, 15-9) and the No. 4 pair of Bristol Christelman/Elizabeth Thomas (18-21, 21-12, 15-12) earned team points with wins for Mt. SAC. The No. 1 pair of Jay Jaramillo and Daniela Serna took its match to a third set before losing, 21-16, 17-21, 8-15.

The Mounties came out victorious in the second contest with a 3-2 win over Bakersfield College (0-1). The No. 2 pair of Aleman/Caravantes (21-11, 21-11), the No. 3 pair of Alexandra Euston/Gaby Vatkin (21-18, 9-21, 15-9), and the No. 4 pair of Christelman/Thomas (21-10, 21-12) tallied team points for Mt. SAC.

"We fell short [against Ventura], but are excited to play them again next Friday and hopefully pull out a victory," said Mountie head coach Daniella Diaz.

Mt. SAC will travel to Ventura Marina on Friday, May 7, for rematches with Ventura and Bakersfield at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
