The MSJC baseball team stayed unbeaten in conference play over the weekend as they swept Barstow in a four game series.

The Eagles and the Vikings were dodging some weather issues as the team's played back to back doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday with all games being played in San Jacinto due to field conditions.

MSJC started the series opener a little slowly as they fell behind Barstow 5-2, before finally claiming the lead in the top of the 5th when Robert Jacobsen and Garrett Teunissen had back to back RBI singles to push the score to 7-5.  Jacobsen drove in two with his base hit and finished the day with three hits total as the Eagles held on for the win 8-6.  Greg Luna also had 3 hits in the victory and Nico Reyes added 2 RBIs.  Starting pitcher Derek Ryan battled through a rocky start to earn the win as he threw five innings before giving way to Brock Robarts who earned the save for MSJC throwing the final two innings.

In game two of the series the Eagles once again fell behind 4-3 after four innings and 7-6 after five, but then the bats exploded as MSJC scored 8 times in the sixth and 4 more times in the 7th to pull away for the 19-7 win.  Will Potter had a monster day as he went a perfect 6 for 6 at the plate driving in 5 runs in the game.  Jacobsen also stayed hot as he added four more hits and drove in three.  Reyes had 4 RBIs in the game, including a three run homer and Alec Bressler drove in three in the contest and added a solo homerun.  Nolan LaChappa picked up the pitching victory to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Saturday the Eagles made things a little easier as they took game one of the day 7-1 over the Vikings.  Pierce Sailer went the distance in the 7 inning game as he allowed just 6 hits and one run to earn his third pitching victory of the season.  Teunissen broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the 5th when he doubled down the left field line knocking home two runs.  Potter followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 3-0.  Andre Torres, Luna, and Jacobsen all added RBIs in the 6th to put the game out of reach.

In the series finale the Eagles scored 6 times in the bottom of the first and went on to win 16-8 to complete the sweep.  Teunissen. Josh McAninch and Christian Smith all drove in 3 runs in the game, while Bressler and Torres knocked in two a piece.  Teunissen also hit his 7th homerun of the season in the bottom of the 5th.  Jack Siegel earned the pitching victory out of the bullpen as he pitched the 4th through 6th innings.

The Eagles who pushed their win streak to nine games overall improved to 19-2 on the season and 8-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference games.  This week the Eagles are set to play a three game series against Chaffey, who is also currently unbeaten in the IEAC.  The first game of the series is scheduled for Tuesday at MSJC at 2 pm.
