Cameron Curiel Leads the Chargers Over Santiago Canyon 6-0

CYPRESS, CA- Coming off their first loss of the season, the Cypress Chargers (8-1, 2-0 OEC) bounced back with a 6-0 victory against OEC rival Santiago Canyon (10-2, 2-1 OEC) on Wednesday afternoon. The Chargers now have their eye on the number one seed in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).

Camryn Addimando (2 for 4, 2B), Nivea Armenta (2 for 3, 2 2B) and Cameron Curiel (2 for 3) each led the Chargers with two RBI's. The Chargers totaled 11 hits as a team with eight players securing at least one hit. The Chargers pitchers combined to give up just six hits in the seven inning shutout victory.

The Chargers continued their offensive domination with a two-out bases loaded RBI single in the second inning from Curiel. Curiel helped add onto the Chargers' lead as she notched another two-out RBI single in the fourth inning to put the team up 2-0. Addimando and Armenta combined for three RBI's to put Cypress up 5-0. The team would accumulate four of their 11 hits in the fifth inning alone.

Despite the lead being out of reach, the Chargers kept their foot on the gas as Addimando knocked in another RBI double in the sixth inning as she hit a line drive over the center fielder's head. Any chance for a comeback would immediately be shut down as pitcher, Isabella Savala, would put the Hawks down 1,2,3 in the 7th inning.

UP NEXT: The Chargers next match will be on the road against Saddleback on Friday, February 25th, at 2 PM.
