Softball: Roadrunners suffer 9-1 loss at No. 1 Mt. SAC

WALNUT – A rough stretch for the Rio Hondo College softball team continued on Tuesday as the Roadrunners dropped a 9-1 South Coast Conference game in six innings at No. 1 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday.

After winning four straight games to close out the month of February, Rio Hondo has lost its first three in March.

The Roadrunners were held to just two hits by the state's top-ranked team. They scored their lone run in the top of the second, taking advantage of a two-out Mt. SAC error that allowed Heaven Wolf to score. Wolf and Kaylie Cervantes hit singles for Rio Hondo.

Lourdes Soria took the loss in the start for the Roadrunners. She allowed eight runs and eight hits over 1 1/3 innings. Clarissa Evangelista pitched well in relief, giving up one unearned run over the final four innings.

Rio Hondo dropped to 9-6 overall and 3-6 in the South Coast Conference. The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday (Mar. 12) when they travel to Golden West College in Huntington Beach for a non-conference game at 12 p.m.
