The Irvine Valley women's soccer team dominated most of the contest after scoring early, but had to settle for a 1-1 tie in a nonconference match at Compton on Friday.

The Lasers moved their record to 1-2-1 overall.

It was the second positive result for IVC after beating Norco, 3-0, last week.

Irvine Valley got a goal from freshman midfielder Perla Miranda in the ninth minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder Leah Maris.

The Lasers continued to attack, but couldn't find another goal.

Compton scored late in extra time in the second half to tie the match.

IVC freshman keeper Andrea Gonzales made three saves in the contest.

Irvine Valley is back in action on Tuesday, hosting East Los Angeles at 3 p.m.
