Spartan Volleyball Hangs on to win in Five

In a non-conference match the MiraCosta women's volleyball team hosted El Camino College. The Spartans brought their 4-2 record into the match but it took every ounce of energy for them to finish the Warriors in five sets. The closely contested match began with MiraCosta winning the first set 25-21 but El Camino won the next two sets, by a combined six points.  With their backs against the wall, the Spartans won the fourth set in convincing fashion and did just enough to squeak by in the fifth set, 19-17.

Freshman Kailyn Jager finished with an impressive stat line of 22 kills and 26 digs. Jackie Gracey and Makayla Hicks added 19 kills for the Spartans.

Defensively Jager and Riley Komo (24 digs) led the way while Hicks added three blocks.

Summer Hoslett finished with 45 assists, eight digs and five kills while leading MiraCosta to a 5-2 start to their season.
