LOS ANGELES, Calif. – On Thursday, the No. 11 SBCC women's volleyball team accomplished something it hadn't done in almost four years, sweeping an opponent for the fourth consecutive match as it took down LA Mission, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17.

"Outside hitters Piper Ellbogn-Pettersen and Lily Krongold both had a good night attacking. It was nice to see the line shot we have been working on so hard in practice successfully implemented in a game," head coach Kat Niksto said. "Credit to LA Mission, they served us very aggressively and played great defense, making us work for every point. We were happy to get out with the sweep, and are looking forward to another big conference match up this Friday at Ventura."

Middle blocker Paige Rudi led the Vaqueros (18-3, 5-1) with seven kills – hitting with a .500 kill percentage for the third time this year – to go along with three blocks and an ace. She now has 12 blocks over the course of SBCC's current run of 12 straight set wins.

Right behind Rudi's team-high 11 points was fellow middle blocker Karoline Ruiz with 10 points (4 kills, 6 blocks). While no other Vaquero has had more than four blocks in a match, Ruiz enjoyed her third six-block performance of 2021.

Ellbogn-Pettersen had one of her most efficient hitting nights of the year, going for six kills while hitting at a .375 clip. Bella Johnson, Lily Krongold and Karoline Ruiz all finished with four kills.

Libero Jacelin Mckie had an SBCC-high of 13 digs, while setter Emma Crabbe just missed out on a double-double with 26 assists and nine digs.

The Vaqueros will have a good test this Friday when they travel to face No. 19 Ventura at 6:00 p.m.
