Baseball Defeats Citrus, 12-6 at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted the Citrus College Owls in the first game of a three game series and won, 12-6.

The Renegades got on the board in the second inning, Gillermo Monje doubled to center field for three RBI's; Luke Froehlich, Alek Martinez and Andrew Townson all scored. The Owls answered those runs with a run of their own in the third (1-3) but BC managed two score more at the bottom of that inning. Jarrett Brannen doubled to right center to bring in catcher Xabi Iparragurrie while Froehlich singled to shortstop for Brannen to score (5-1). 

At the top of the fourth, the Owls added two more runs (3-5) while the Gades added three in the fourth, and three more in the sixth (12-3). Cirtus managed to add three more in the seventh but Bakersfield's lead was too large for them to catch up by the top of the ninth. 

 

Tim Ruiz got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went 4.2 innings with two strikeouts, while Daniel Felix finished the game and got the win.

The Renegades will head Citrus to second game of the series Thursday and return Friday (4/08) for a 2:30pm game.
