Vose Joins His Middle Infield to Lead Cuesta Past Cerritos, 13-5

Cuesta Baseball defeated Cerritos, 13-5, for their 11th victory over their past dozen games.  Freshman Southpaw Justin Vose (pict) made his first start of the year and hurled seven shutout innings to earn the win over Cerritos.  He struckout a team season-high 10 Falcons and allowed only four hits before handing the game off to the bullpen.  Vose also got a lot of help from his middle infield combination of Shortstop Ryan Fenn (pict) and Second Baseman Diego Murillo.  Fenn went 5-for-6, including three Doubles, and drove in a season-high five runs, including Murillo twice.  Murillo went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and drove in three more.  In all ten Cuesta players collected a base-hit in the contest, while none of their four hurlers allowed an earned run.  The Cougars, ranked #25 in the State, improved to 19-12 on the season.

The Cougars host #17 Merced on Thursday (1 PM) for the final game on the Cuesta/Hancock Spring Break Tournament at 1 PM.  The Cougars also have a Western State Conference game on Friday (2:30).  Cuesta hosts Santa Barbara City to make-up a contest postponed for Covid protocols.
