HORNETS TOO MUCH FOR THE MOUNTIES

The Hornets made it 4-0 on the young season after beating Mt. SAC 6-2 at home Thursday afternoon.

Both teams came into the game today with a 3-0 record, however Fullerton had more in the tank scoring 6 runs on 6 hits.

FC got the first run of the game across in the bottom of the first thanks to Elie Kligman's shot up the middle allowing Diego Franco the chance to come home.

The Hornet offense exploded for 5 runs in the sixth inning giving the team an ample 6-1 lead. With the bases loaded, Elie Kligman worked the count for a walk forcing Diego Franco in from third. Britton Beeson came up next and hammered the ball to the deep leftfield corner scoring Tank Espalin, Isaiah Marquez, and Kilgman, who came sliding in avoiding the tag from the Mt. SAC catcher. Bryce Gamble drove the ball to deep center for a SAC Fly that brought home Beeson.

In the top of the eighth, the Mounties pushed one more run across when Damien Delgadillo knocked in CJ Ontiveros.

Lefty freshman Matt Romero tossed a great game going 7 innings for his first win of the season. He gave up 6 hits, had no earned runs, no walks, and 2 strikeouts. Nathan McManus earned his second save of the season holding Mt. SAC down with 2 hits against, 1 earned runs, no walks, and 2 strikeouts in 2 innings of work.

Up Next: Fullerton (4-0 overall) will be back at it again tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 3) when they welcome Palomar College to Hornet Field at 12:00 pm.
