Baseball team just keeps finding ways to win

With their season-opening seven game winning streak on the line, the FLC baseball team found themselves trailing by three runs late in their Monday afternoon game at Yuba College.  But this team has answered every challenge so far in 2020, and Monday was no different as they scored once in the eighth inning, then tied the game with two more in the ninth inning before winning it with three runs in the tenth inning.  Freshman third baseman Trey Furrey had three hits in the game, but it was his two-run single up the middle with one out in the ninth that was the biggest, tying the score at 6-6.  Starter Gabe Emmett pitched well (5 innings, 2 earned runs on 4 hits, 7 strikeouts) but was outdueled by his Yuba counterpart, Kellen Brothers, who allowed just one run in his 6 innings.  Once the Falcons got into the 49ers' bullpen in the seventh inning, the runs started scoring.  Freshman Hunter Hayes pitched most of the 8th and all of the 9th to pick up the win, while sophomore Garrett Kellogg-Clark earned the save with a perfect 1-2-3 10th inning.

The Falcons will take their 8-0 record on the road, playing three games at L.A. Valley College on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
