Falcons Sweep Doubleheader Against Pirates

Folsom, CA– After defeating the Pirates (8-9, 0-2) in game one of the two game set on Saturday, the Falcons (8-7, 2-0) found themselves in a 3-1 hole in the bottom half of the 4th inning of the second game. That was, until sophomore first baseman, Sydnee Verlin hit a 3-run dinger with two runners on, to take a 4-1 lead. Later in the same inning, sophomore 3rd baseman, Emma Gaytan hit a triple to drive in the game winning run by Mikaela Pamplona.  The Falcons added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Pirates 7-4.

Marissa Alders pitched three innings as the starter and allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out 4. Relieving Alders and earning the win for the Falcons was Isabella Savala who pitched four innings while allowing two hits and walking two batters.
