Fairfield, Calif. - The Solano softball team captured the victory on the front end of Tuesday's doubleheader, edging American River, 3-2, but falling 8-0 in the second contest.

In game one, the Falcons scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. Freshmen Britney Lentino and Naiya Watts led the team with two-hit outings with Lentino counting a double and RBI.

Freshman Maleah Martinez (1-3) earned her first win, throwing the complete game, scattering four hits while fanning four.

In the second game, Solano struggled to get the bats going with Lentino counting the team's lone hit, but also charged with the loss in the circle. She threw four innings allowing six hits and three earned runs on five total scored in the game.

Solano (1-9) remains home, hosting Shasta on Thursday, Mar. 3 in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
