COD Baseball sinks Vikings, 13-2

COD (12-4; 1-1) got back to even in Conference play with a lopsided contest, with five different players having multi-hit games, as the Roadrunners fired a broadside against the Barstow Vikings (3-16; 1-2), 13-2.

Sophomore center fielder William Owens (Crescent City, FL) had a 2 for 4 day with 2 runs scored out of the leadoff spot and sophomore short stop Jason Leon (La Quinta H.S.) clobbered his second home run of the season in the bottom of the second, going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in. Sophomore left fielder Jacob Mejia (Palm Desert H.S.) went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's out of the cleanup spot and sophomore catcher Tyler Swan (Gilroy Christopher) went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored out of the seven hole. Sophomore Jaden Pickowitz designated hitter (Indio Shadow Hills) went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's out of the nine hole.

Sophomore left handed starting pitcher Michael-Alan Stanford (Westlake Village) tossed his fifth consecutive start with six or more innings pitched, striking out five and sophomore right handed relief pitcher Kevin Sanchez (Indio Shadow Hills) threw two innings with a strike out. Freshman left handed relief pitcher Hudson Myers (Beaumont H.S.) wrapped up the game with a walk and a strike out.

The next contest for Desert is on Tuesday, March 7th at 2p at the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville. The next home game for the Roadrunners is Thursday, March 9th at 2p against the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles.
