The De Anza volleyball team beat Ohlone in 4 sets Friday night 23-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-19, to wrap up the conference-crossover portion of the schedule.

The match was close at the start, with both teams trading points and small runs. Ohlone held a 21-18 lead before De Anza tied it up at 21 behind the serving and defense of Adrianna Williams. The set was tied at 22 before Ohlone scored 2 straight, and the Lions fought off one set point before ultimately dropping a close and hard-fought first set 23-25.

The Lions battled back and took command in the second set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead behind strong serving including 1 ace from Emily Pereira and 2 from Williams. Serving was the story in the second set, with the team totaling 6 aces and putting the Renegades on their heels. Williams closed out the second with a kill to win 25-16.

The third set was about offensive efficiency, with the team hitting at a rate of .433.  The set was close early, before the Lions went on an 8-1 run that included kills by Williams, Pereira, and Molly Vainish, to open a 17-7 lead.

The Lions started strong and took a lead to start the 4th, before the Renegades tied it up at 6.  The two teams traded points, and at 14-14 Bailey Weiss served 5 straight to help the Lions pull away, ultimately winning 25-19, with Williams and Rachel Walkup ending the night with an emphatic block.

Superb team effort was the key to the night. Amazing defense from Williams helped secure the victory. Williams finished the night with 15 kills (.379), 25 digs, and 4 aces. Pereira added 9 kills, 24 assists, and 11 digs. Grace Brandau led the team in assists with 25 and had 13 digs of her own.
