Citrus Powers Past Barstow

Citrus College scored first and powered through to a 16-6 victory over Barstow College Thursday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 2-4 on the year, while the Vikings drop to 1-7.

Chad Green led the Owls with a 3-for-5 showing at the plate, scoring two runs and batting in another. Nicholas Santiago went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI, while Ronnie Wohlert finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

On the mound, Kaj James picked up the win, striking out three Vikings in five innings of action. Tony Verrone threw the final inning for the Owls, allowing just one hit and grabbing a strikeout.

Citrus turns right around to host Victor Valley on Friday at 2 p.m.
