Tiger Softball Results for the week of 3-7.

The Reedley College softball Tigers won their Central Valley Conference contest last week but had their problems in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday.
Coach Amy Bailey's Lady Tigers took a 1-1 CVC record and an overall record of 7-9 into a scheduled 2 pm doubleheader with Taft College on March 15. On Sunday, Reedley travels to San Joaquin Delta in Stockton for a non-conference noon doubleheader with the Mustangs.
Reedley defeated College of the Sequoias 5-2 on Thursday before suffering non-conference losses to 14th ranked Bakersfield 9-0 and to Monterey Peninsula 10-1 on Saturday in Reedley. Both games were called after five innings.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Sequoias and never looked back. Ellie Montalvo walked on five pitches before winning pitcher Annabelle Buchanan singled. Both runners moved up on a groundout by Seanna Esquivel before scoring on a single by Jordynn Acevedo. After Acevedo stole second, she scored as Ava Trevino reached second on a strikeout and a wild pitch.
Reedley's final two runs scored on a sacrifice fly by Trevino, which scored Esquivel (who led off the fifth with a double) and a run-scoring single by Makaylah Johnson.
On the mound, Buchanan scattered six hits and struck out two.

But Saturday was a different story. Bakersfield's Rylee Price hit Buchanan's seventh pitch of the game over the left-field fence for a two-run homer. The Renegades scored six runs in the fifth, all after two were out.
Reedley's only run of the day came in the bottom of the first after Monterey Peninsula had scored three times in the top of the inning. Singles by Montalvo and Buchanan (who had three of Reedley's five hits in the game) combined with an error to score the Tigers' lone run.
MPC finished with 11 hits off Buchanan and Johnson.
