The MSJC baseball team got swept by Chaffey over the weekend as the Eagle bats were held in check for three straight games.

On Thursday Chaffey took a 2 run lead in the top of the second and never looked back as they won in San Jacinto 5-1.  Chris Scovel pitched a solid game on the mound for the Eagles as he allowed just one earned run in 6 innings of work, but he was charged with the loss. Andre Torres drove in the only MSJC run of the day in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly that scored Alec Bressler.

Friday the Eagles scored the first run of the contest when Gavin Copeland drove in Will Potter with a single to left field, but that would be all the runs MSJC could produce on the day as they fell 7-1.  Three runs in the top of the fifth and three more in the top of the 9th was the difference in the game.  Pierce Sailer took the loss despite not giving up an earned run in five innings.

Saturday the frustration continued as this time the Eagles let a 3-1 lead slip away as they lost on the road 4-3.  Greg Luna, Garrett Teunissen and Kyle Serna each drove in a run for the Eagles as they scored single runs in the top of the 3rd, 6th, and 7th.  Chaffey scored three times in the bottom of the 7th to complete the comeback.  Nolan LaChappa suffered his first loss of the season on the mound.

MSJC came into the series unbeaten in conference play and tied with Chaffey for first place, they now stand at 8-3 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play and 19-5 overall.  The Eagles will play San Bernardino Valley three times this week, with games Tuesday and Saturday at SBVC and Thursday at home.
