Falcons rally for extra-inning win at ARC

Runs were as difficult to find as cheap gas on Thursday, but the Folsom Lake baseball team rallied late with five runs over the final three innings - including three in the 10th inning - to win at American River, 6-3.  Thursday's game was eerily similar to the close pitcher's duel the two teams played on Tuesday at FLC; both teams scored a run early, then the pitchers got stingy and didn't allow any more runs through seven innings.  FLC starter Gavin Ochoa was particularly brilliant, pitching seven innings without giving up any earned runs and issuing just one walk.  Down 3-1 in the eighth, the Falcons managed to score a run without recording a hit, then proceeded to tie the game in the ninth by manufacturing another run with a hit batter, a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI single by Wyatt Reginato that tied the score 3-3.  In the tenth, the Falcons got RBI singles from Jeff Bauser and Khale Good and an RBI groundout by Logan Sutter to go ahead 6-3.  Left fielder/closer Cole Tremain came in from the outfield to pitch the final out of the ninth, then got the win with a (mostly) clean tenth inning.

The Falcons (14-2-1 overall, 2-0 in Big 8) have not experienced defeat in a month; their last loss came on February 10 at L.A. Valley, although they had an 11-11 tie (due to darkness) two weeks ago.  They'll play the series finale against ARC on Saturday at FLC at 1:00 pm.
