Three Sweeps In A Row to Stay Undefeated in PCAC
The Knights are three matches into the PCAC season and they have three victories, all sweeps, including Friday night's 3-0 home win over Palomar in front of the largest crowd of the season. Alexis Mines led the team with 14 kills to go with five digs and six service aces, while Ashley Davies added eight kills and 10 digs to help the Knights remain undefeated in the conference.

The Knights are three matches into the PCAC season and they have three victories, all sweeps, including Friday night's 3-0 home win over Palomar in front of the largest crowd of the season. Alexis Mines led the team with 14 kills to go with five digs and six service aces, while Ashley Davies added eight kills and 10 digs to help the Knights remain undefeated in the conference.
The opening set did not start the way the Knights would've liked with Palomar jumping out to a 7-0 lead and maintaining that lead for most of the set, but the Knights kept fighting. With Palomar ahead, 20-15, the Knights rolled off four straight points to get within a point.
It was looking bleak for City when Palomar answered back by scoring four of the next five points to take a 24-20 lead, but the Knights rallied back with five consecutive points to take the lead. From there, it turned into a marathon set with neither team able to close it out until the Knights won three straight points after being down, 32-31. Jadian Dilg's service ace to end the set sent a loud roar throughout Harry West Gym as the Knights celebrated the comeback win.
The Knights had a much better start to the second set as they grabbed a 16-7 lead, but this time it was Palomar who nearly pulled off a comeback. Later in the set with City leading 20-12, Palomar went on a 9-3 run to get within two points at 23-21, but the Knights finished off the set with back-to-back points, including Dilg's block to end it at 25-21.
City carried the momentum over to the third set, took a commanding 13-4 lead, and never looked back as they went on to complete the sweep with a 25-16 win.
Dilg finished the match with two kills, three digs, and seven total blocks (two solo). At the libero position, Charisma Saymo led the Knights with 11 digs.
Kai Arriaga and Jillian Geenen combined for 29 assists.
The Knights play their next two matches on the road at Cuyamaca on September 28 and at MiraCosta on September 30, both of which are scheduled for 6 p.m.
