Bulldogs Roll to 16-6 Victory over Cuesta

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team was firing on all cylinders on Thursday afternoon as the Bulldogs rolled to victory over Cuesta College at John Osborne Field. 
 
The Bulldogs had one of its best offensive outputs of the season thus far after producing 16 runs on 14 hits. The Cougars struck first with one run in the opening frame, but Hancock responded with 11 runs through the next four innings and built a sizable lead. Things quieted down for both sides through the next two frames, but a double by Travis Welker plated one in the bottom of the seventh. Joey Freitas closed the contest with a double that brought home three runners in the final frame, stretching the lead to double digits and enacting the 10-run rule to earn the win early. 
 
Jacob Steels and Freitas led a hot-hitting lineup after notching three hits apiece en route to the victory. Freitas recorded four RBIs and one run, including a double, while Steels posted three RBIs and two runs. Kalub Ramirez also posted four RBIs and one run after launching a shot over the fence, marking his first homerun of the season. 
 
Trevor Garcia earned the win on the bump for the Bulldogs in his first start of the season. He scattered eight hits and struck out five batters through five innings of work. Lucas Earle collected a save on the mound after allowing just one hit and punching out two batters through the final three innings of play.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, April 24th, with a trip to Cuesta for a doubleheader event. The first game is set to open at 12 PM in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
