SANTA BARBARA – A pair of home runs highlighted the SBCC baseball team's doubleheader wins over Ventura on Friday, as the Vaqueros came away with close wins of 2-1 and 2-0.

SBCC 2, Ventura 1
Third baseman Presley Kosciusko led the Vaqueros (14-7, 5-3) with a team-high two hits. Ventura's (9-14, 5-6) second-inning run was the only for either team until Kosciusko's big double to right center in the eighth. Shorstop Sebastian Arguelles – who had already made it to second with his own double to right center – scored to tie the game at 1-1.

The Pirates got out of the inning with a double play, but SBCC pitcher Charlie Adamson held them scoreless with a pair of strikeouts in the top of the ninth.

Ventura picked up one out in the bottom of the ninth before center fielder Carson Cahoy ended things with his first home run of the season, blasting the walk-off hit over the left field wall.

It was the second time this season that Cahoy has been part of a walk-off home run, after Daniel Ghiorso did so last month in a win over Chaffey.

SBCC 2, Ventura 0
In the second game of the day, it was the Vaqueros who jumped ahead in the second inning. Right fielder Patrick Walsh led off the inning with a double and catcher Tyler Imbach put SBCC ahead with a two-run shot.

Imbach's first home run of the year would go down as the second game-winning home run of the day, as neither team made a scratch on the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Pitcher Aiden Garza got the win, striking out six batters while holding Ventura scoreless over eight innings. It was the second shutout of the season for the Vaquero defense.
