POWERING PAST RENEGADES

After beating Bakersfield in a close one 8-7 on the road Tuesday, No. 22 Fullerton made it two in a row against the Renegades at home Thursday with a 25-3 win.

Today's win ties the record for "Largest Margin of Victory" (22). The original 25-3 record breaker happened February 21, 1988 against Deanza College under Head Coach Nick Fuscardo. 

Getting the start on the mound was Adam Armstrong who went 5.1 innings with 8 hits against, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Getting the win today was reliever Ryan Chavez (4-0), who tossed 1.2 innings with no runs, no walks, and 3 K's. Nathan McManus came for an inning giving up only a hit, and Michael Ohlers finished off the game with just a hit against.

Bakersfield snuck in the game's first run in the top of the first when Alek Martinez hit a shot that got through the left side scoring Jacob Baker.

The Hornets got the run back in the bottom of the first on Jacob Sharp's ground out that allowed Isaiah Marquez to come home from third.

The Gades went up 2-1 in the second on a solo blast over the left field ivy by Luke Froehlich.

Fullerton tied the game up 2-2 in the third thanks to Jacob Sharp's knock to left field for a single singled scoring RJ Vanderhook.

The Renegades scored their last run of the game in the sixth inning taking a 3-2 lead. Joseph Alatorre hit a single through the middle of the field plating Xabi Iparraguirre.

Fullerton blew the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth putting up an incredible 12 runs. The FC bats kept busy in the seventh and eighth innings pushing another 11 runs across putting the game out of reach.

As a team, the Hornets collected 28 hits on the day with 10 players having a multi-hit game.
