CYPRESS, CA- Charger softball (24-3, 11-1 OEC) won in mercy fashion against the Riverside Tigers (11-13, 3-6 OEC) on Friday afternoon, 9-0.

For the second consecutive game, the Chargers defeated their opponent in five innings and kept the visiting team's bats scoreless. Cypress got on the board early in the first as leadoff hitter Emily Rush touched home from a wild pitch. In the bottom of the second, the home team exploded for four runs.

Jaiden Stern hit it to the hot corner and an error by the third baseman allowed Mikayla Jacobsen to cross home. Jaylene Duarte followed with a single that knocked in Ashlynn Ortiz for the game's first RBI. A batter later, Kaitlyn Reynolds piled it on with a two-RBI hit that finished the innings offensive.

The Chargers bats continued their success in the third when three runs came across to score. With a two-out opportunity, Duarte tripled as two runners touched the plate. Reynolds repeated the trend with a triple of her own which scored Duarte from first base. Cypress added a final run in the fourth from an error by the Tigers outfield.
