PC wraps up volleyball season with doubleheader sweep at Reedley

The Porterville College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 season on a winning note, taking a pair of Central Valley Conference matches at Reedley College on Wednesday night.

The Pirates needed five sets to take the opener, winning by scores of 27-25, 25-16, 22-25, 22-25, 15-5. They followed that up with a 3-1 victory, taking the match 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18.

Defense played a key role in both contests. In the opening win, the Pirates totaled 89 digs and had 15 total blocks while in the second match had 64 digs and another 17 total blocks.

Keilani Regaspi totaled 38 digs over the two matches, including 21 in the first match. Jordan Castaneda had 32 total digs while also posting 83 assists.

PC got outstanding offensive efforts from Victoria Dabney, Emily Kissick, and Madison Doty.

Dabney had 14 kills and 10 digs in the opener and added 13 kills and 7 blocks in the finale while Kissick totaled 26 kills over the two contests. Doty had a pair of outstanding all-around matches, posting 9 kills, 7 digs, and 5 blocks in match 1 and 11 kills and 7 blocks in the second.

The Pirates closed the season with a 10-14 overall record and finished fifth in the highly-competitive Central Valley Conference at 7-9 under head coach Pete Rasmussen.
