BEAVERS DROP GAME 1 TO SAC CITY

American River College did not start the 2022 BIG 8 Conference season the way they planned as they fell to cross-town rival Sac City 12-2 at Union Stadium on Tuesday.  Sophomore SS Kevin Taylor (Westlake) led off the game by lining the first pitch for a single to left but he was stranded on second to end the inning.  Sac City scored three times in the bottom of the first off of starter Matt Kelly (Oak Hills) who struggled to put hitters away.  The Beavers got one back in the second as sophomore DH Alejandro Belo (Vanden) scored from first on a double off of the left field fence by sophomore RF Michael Grijalva (Ponderosa).  Both Belo and Grijalva would have two hits on the day.  Sac City came right back though and tacked on a pair of runs in the second, then added 6 more off of freshman LHP Anthony Ocanas (Woodland) who came on in relief of Kelly in the 4^th.  ARC got their second run in the 8^th on a sac fly by freshman LF Trevor Crockett (Del Campo).

The two teams meet back at Beaver Field on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
