Hawks Push Past Tigers
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated the Riverside City College Tigers 2-1 in 9 innings. The win brings the Hawks overall record to 14-2 and 5-1 in Orange Empire Conference play. Stella Turner recorded the complete game win, allowing 1 run on 4 hits over 9 innings of work. She now has an overall record of 10-1.
The Hawks got on the board early with a bases loaded walk to take the 1-0 lead in the first inning.They remained scoreless through regulation however with the Tigers tying up the game in the top of the 6th inning with an unearned run. Lindsey Marschall led off the bottom of the 9th with a base hit and advanced to second base on a bunt from Natalie Crawford. Marschall was moved to third when Adriana Martinez forced an error to reach first safely. Liliana Navarro was then walked to load the bases bringing up Samantha Villanueva who drove a base hit to right field to end the game in 2-1 a walk off win.
The Hawks will host Fullerton College on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference game. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm.
