COD Women’s Soccer rallies for tie with Monarchs, 3-3

COD (2-0-1) had to overcome weather delays just to play today, getting on the scoreboard early, then fighting back in the second half with a last-minute goal to wrap up a tie with the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs of Valley Glen (1-0-1), 3-3.

Freshman starting forward Dalaina Johnson (Cathedral City H.S.) scored a pair of spectacular goals on the late afternoon, getting the scoring started in the 15th minute and scoring a game tying goal in the 83rd minute. Sophomore starting midfielder Monserrath Bedolla Guzman (Thermal Coachella Valley) converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 68th minute to tie the game at 2-2.

The Roadrunners played the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs of Valley Glen for the first time in program history in 2008 and have a 0-1-2 record against the Monarchs. Desert has never previously hosted the Monarchs in Palm Desert. The next game for Desert is on Tuesday, September 6th at the Cerritos Falcons of Norwalk. The Roadrunners first played Cerritos in 2008 and last played Cerritos in 2008 and have a 0-2 overall record against the Falcons. Desert has a 0-1 record at Cerritos. The next home game for the Roadrunners is on September 16th, when Desert will host the Cypress Chargers for the first time in program history. The Roadrunners have a 0-1 record all time against the Chargers, their first contest was in 2021 at Cypress.
