Oroville, Calif. - The Butte baseball team held on to complete the three-game sweep of West Valley, 9-8, in the series finale on Saturday afternoon.
The Roadrunners scored every inning through the sixth to take an early 9-0 lead with seven different Roadrunners earning at least one RBI.
Sophomore Ryan McCarthy belted his fourth home run of the week, third in the series, in his 3-for-5 outing at the plate. Four other Roadrunners tallied a pair of hits with sophomore Evan Stauch counting a double and sophomore Kolby Amaral counting a pair of RBI. Freshman Carter Lyons went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.
Sophomore Bryson Reif earned his first win of the season on the bump with a six-inning, two-hit outing with four strikeouts.
Butte (8-2) look to sweep another series as it heads to Yuba on Tuesday, Feb. 14 for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
