Hawks Fall on the Road in Season Opener

Livermore, Calif. Lady Hawks opened the season on Tuesday with an away game at Las Positas College. The Hawks came up short as they come back home with a 0-2 loss.

The Hawks battled all game long dominating the flow of the game for the first 30 minutes. Las Positas was happy to let the Hawks have the ball while they sat back, trying to counter on lost possession of the ball. Freshman Analise Villasenor was one of the biggest threats in the first half. With her dynamic runs up and down the left side of the pitch. In the 30th minute the Hawks lost a ball in possession and Las Positas got the chance they were waiting for. A ball in behind the defense led to a 1v1 dual between freshman defender Kathryn Rocha and the Las Positas attacker 25 yards away from our goal, were she was successfully able to poke the ball away from the Las Positas attacker. Unfortunately for the Hawks the ball bounced to an on coming Las Positas attacker who hit it first time from 30 yards out and put it in the back of the net. Hawks went into half down 0-1. Hawks never stopped fighting and motivated freshman Nariyah O'Brien put a number of crosses in the box from the right side. Lady Luck was just not on our side. Late in the game as the Hawks pushed numbers forward in hope of tying the match Las Positas got a second goal.

Lady Hawks are back in action Thursday as they host Solano College at 4pm.
