Golden West
The FC women's water polo team had their hands full on Wednesday evening knocking off conference foe No. 7 Golden West College 14-7, and then playing the Philippine National Team.
In the first game, Fullerton and Golden West exchanged the first shots, and FC began to slowly pulled away taking a 5-2 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Rustlers fought back in the second to get within two scores (5-3) on a shot by Lauren Bellevia. Alexandra Lopez answered back for FC knocking down a pretty shot. Soon after, teammate Abigail Nunez followed up with a goal of her own giving the Hornets a 7-3 advantage. From there, Fullerton pushed on earning the Orange Empire Conference victory over a quality team.
Doherty and Alexandra Lopez led FC with 4 goals a piece, while Nunez knocked down 3. Briana Portales contributed 2 goals and Lindsey Irie had a goal.
Soon after the Golden West game, the Hornets took on Philippine National Team for a non-conference match and lost in a tight one 14-13.
Irie led all scorers with 4 goals with Charley Jackson chipping in with 3 and Nunez scoring 2.
Up Next: Fullerton (15-2 overall, 3-1 conference) will be playing in the Ventura College Tournament this weekend October 11-12.
