Men’s Water Polo Records Split at Mount San Antonio Tournament

El Camino College had a solid Saturday to salvage a split at the Mount San Antonio Tournament over the weekend.

The Warriors went winless on Friday afternoon but came back Saturday with two sizeable victories.

Orange Coast 18, El Camino College 7

The Warriors trailed 3-0 inside of three minutes to start the match but goals from Cole Allyn and Nate Griffith brought ECC back to within one at 4-3 with 1:55 left in the first period. But the Pirates scored 10 unanswered goals and held ECC scoreless in the second period to pull away and score the win.

Allyn finished with three goals while Griffith and Josh Terry added two goals apiece while Brandon Soto made eight saves in the loss.

Cuesta 24, El Camino College 6

The Warriors once again started slow, falling behind 4-0 inside of the first three minutes of play. But this time, the Warriors offense remained stalled as Cuesta led 10-2 by halftime and never took its foot off the gas.

Brandon Guerrero and Griffith each scored two goals in the match while William Ngo and Terry added one goal apiece.

El Camino College 17, Santa Monica 9

The match was close throughout with the Warriors never leading by more than three goals until late in the third quarter. That changed when Seth Ulrich scored with 24 seconds left in the third quarter to put ECC up 13-9. The goal was the first of five unanswered Warriors goals and the defense blanked Santa Monica in the fourth quarter to score the team's first win of the weekend.

El Camino College 16, Southwestern 6

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back, leading by as many as 11 goals at one point. Joseph Banda led the team with five goals and also dished out four assists in the victory. Ulrich, Guerrero and Terry all scored three times in the win while Soto and Ali Ahmed each made four saves.
