Two-Out Rally Lifts SBVC Past Victor Valley

The San Bernardino Valley College baseball team scored seven times with two outs in the fifth inning, and got six strong innings from starting pitcher Nathan Campos-Jaramillo as the Wolverines won their eighth straight, knocking off Victor Valley College 10-2 in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game Tuesday afternoon.

Jaramillo struck out eight in six innings, giving up five hits and one unearned run for his second win of the season. And he got all the support he would need in the fifth inning.

Parker Pund led off the inning with a single to center, then stole second. But two outs later, Pund was left standing on third. But Alec Castillo lined a double to right, then went to third on a wild pitch. Melchor Flores and Ignacio Zamora then drew walks to load the bases. Luis Martinez-Gomez stepped up as a pinch hitter and singled up the middle to score Castillo and Flores. Juan Ramirez then walked to re-load the bases, and Alexander Jurado reached on an infield single to score Zamora. Pund, in his second at bat of the inning, lined a single up the middle to score Ramirez and Martinez. At that point, the Rams went to the bullpen, and reliever Gehrig Diemoz hit Justin Robles to re-load the bases, then walked Eddie Aldama to force in a run.

Pund sparked a rally for SBVC's run. He bunted his way on in the third - the Wolverines' first hit of the game. He went to second on a single from Robles, then scored on a double from Aldama.

SBVC got big days at the plate from Pund, who was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, and Jurado, who was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBI.
